The chance of getting HIV from rimming is zero. However, you run a risk of contracting hepatitis A and B, shigella, syphilis, gonorrhoea and chlamydia. 

TIPS

• Never give a rim job if you have a cold sore on your lips. You could infect someone with herpes.
• Always use a condom or dental dam when rimming. Place the dental dam flat to cover the anus and use a dental dam when licking someone’s balls. You can also use cling film but make sure to use the non-perforated type.
• Also use a dental dam if you are receiving a rim job to reduce the risk of contracting syphilis, chlamydia and gonorrhoea.
