What is an STD?
STDs are sexually transmitted diseases:
- In most cases, STDs are caused by a virus or a bacterium. However, sometimes a parasite or another organism is the cause of the infection.
- STDs are transmitted through unsafe sexual contact.
- STD agents can be found in the mucous membrane of the vagina, penis, mouth, throat and anus or in the pre-cum, sperm and blood.
- STDs do not always cause complaints, but are contagious even without complaints.
