Violence and discrimination
Violence and discrimination
As a transgender, you are more likely to be confronted with different forms of violence such as physical and/or sexual violence, verbal abuse (name-calling, threats, harassment). In addition, transgender people are often the victim of discrimination and/or stigma.
Although violence and/or discrimination are totally unacceptable, victims often feel guilt-ridden. We cannot repeat often enough: the responsibility for violence always lies with the perpetrator. Provoking violence simply does not exist. No one deserves or asks for violence.
If you've been the victim of violence or discrimination, you're a victim of transphobia.
You can always file a complaint with the police or contact the Institute for equality of Women and Men.
